Dr Belinda Welsh

Belinda established the Sunbury Dermatology and Skin Cancer Clinic in 2002.

Medical training and experience:
Belinda completed her 6-year undergraduate medical degree at Monash University in 1990. She was an Intern at the Austin hospital in Melbourne before moving to Sydney and spending several years as a junior resident then registrar at the Royal North Shore Hospital. She then went on to complete a Research-based Masters Degree at the University of Sydney under the supervision of world-renowned scientist Professor Gary Halliday.

Belinda moved back to Melbourne in 1996 to complete the four-year specialist dermatology training program. In the year of graduation, she won the prestigious Australasian College of Dermatologists Travelling Fellowship for finishing top in my year and used this grant to visit several hospitals in the USA. Prior to opening the practice, she was a consultant at the rooms of Dr Anne Howard in Footscray and Dr Peter Sinclair in Kew.

Belinda has also worked in the public hospital system for many years including:

  • The Alfred Hospital
  • St Vincents Hospital
  • Mercy Hospital for Women

She currently attends:

  • The Royal Childrens Hospital laser clinic
  • The Skin and Cancer Foundation Aesthetics clinic

Belinda has been a Board Member of the Skin and Cancer Foundation and am a committee member of the Victorian Faculty of Dermatologists just having finished a 2-year term as Faculty Chair. She has written numerous articles and spoken widely.

Specialist areas:
Belinda has spent many years doing general dermatology before having a subspecialty interest in laser and cosmetic injectables. What she has come to understand is the dividing line between what we consider medial and cosmetic is very blurred. As a result, she sees it all as a continuum and therefore she feels strongly about offering our patients a whole range of services to address their particular needs and concerns without judgement

Dr Belinda Welsh’s approach:
Growing up in Gisborne South, Belinda had always felt quite strongly about “coming back” to provide a medical service to the area. She is committed to providing state of the art clinics that provide quality care and support for all ages and all skin types.
